The short version
Hay Bale Bend is an offline soapbox racing game. It has no account, no server, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind. Everything the game remembers — your season progress, your logbook of races, your saved cart set-ups and your settings — is stored only in the app's own storage on your device. None of it is sent anywhere, and we cannot see it.
What is stored on your device
- Season progress — which events you have unlocked, your best times and placings.
- Logbook — every run you complete: both times, the placing, the surface and the cart set-up you used, so you can compare set-ups later.
- Saved set-ups — cart configurations you choose to name and keep.
- Settings — your chosen theme, control scheme, and whether sound, music and haptics are on.
- Nose decal photo — if you choose a photo for your cart's nose (see below), the cropped image is saved in the app's own storage.
All of this stays on your device. Deleting the app deletes it.
Camera
If you choose "Take a photo" while decorating your cart, the app opens the camera so you can photograph your own cart, your crew, or anything else you like, and use that picture as a decal on the nose of your in-game cart. The photo is processed and stored only on your device. It is never uploaded anywhere unless you personally choose to share a result card through the system share sheet.
Photo library
If you choose "Choose a photo" instead, the app opens the system photo picker so you can pick an existing picture for the same nose decal. The app only receives the single photo you select; it cannot browse the rest of your library, and the picture is stored only on your device.
Motion sensor
If you switch the controls to tilt steering, the app reads your device's motion sensor live, while you are racing, to work out which way you are tipping the device. These readings are used the instant they arrive and are never recorded or stored.
Notifications
You can turn on an optional local reminder that lets you know the next course and its surface. This notification is scheduled entirely on your device using Apple's notification system. No message or token is sent to us or to anyone else, because there is no server on the other end. You can turn it off at any time inside the app or in the Settings app.
Sharing your results
If you choose to share a result card from the Results screen, the app hands an image to the system share sheet — the same one used across iOS. What happens to it after that is entirely your choice: nothing is sent by the app itself.
Third parties
Hay Bale Bend does not use any third-party analytics, advertising or tracking software. No data about you or your device is collected, transmitted or sold to anyone.
Children's privacy
Hay Bale Bend does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect personal information at all.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be published at this same address with a new "last updated" date above.
